diaspora Dub | b current
Friday October 14, 2016

We just wrapped a milestone project at b current. diaspora Dub is our signature event marking the company’s 25th Anniversary this year and the origins of the work is from the production that started it all back in 1991, a piece called dark diaspora…in dub by ahdri zhina mandiela. We brought together over 15 artists of different disciplines, generations, and ethnocultural backgrounds to tell this story of celebration, migration, and communion. A story about the Black experience in Canada that connects all of us.

I’ve been with the company for 6 seasons now, and as Artistic Producer I’m continually humbled by the artists and stories we get to work with. To bring the spirit of all that the company is to spaces throughout downtown Toronto was a joy and so important to who I am and what I care about as an artist. We’re always up to something cool, check us out if you’re looking for something to do.
